Maharashtra Board Releases Top 20 Percentile Cut-Off Marks for 2026 HSC Students
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has officially announced the Top 20 Percentile cut-off marks for HSC students appearing for admissions through JEE Main and JEE Advanced eligibility criteria.
According to the newly released official notice, the category-wise Top 20 Percentile cut-off marks out of 500 for the year 2026 are as follows:
Category 2026 Cut-Off Marks
GEN 359
GEN-EWS 359
OBC-NCL 367
SC 337
ST 355
For comparison, the 2025 General category cut-off was 361 marks, meaning this yearβs General cut-off has slightly decreased to 359.
The Top 20 Percentile rule is important for students aiming for admission into IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. As per JoSAA rules, candidates must either secure the required percentage criteria in Class 12 or fall within the Top 20 Percentile of their respective education board.
Experts believe the slight reduction in cut-off marks this year may be due to tougher board paper patterns and comparatively stricter evaluation trends in Maharashtra HSC examinations.
Students are advised to keep checking the official board website and JoSAA portal for updated eligibility and counselling notifications related to JEE Main 2026 and JEE Advanced admissions.
